Artist Statement
In essence my art is about tapping into resilience—that ability to deal with the challenges that life throws at us by drawing on our strength of heart, rewriting our story so the past and present can sit together and finding hope for the future.
Heart, hope and story are my way forward and are woven into my art using references to those special places where I go to find myself, to focus on what is important and renew my energy and strength.
A walk on the beach, the morning sun shining through the trees, the first Magnolia flowers of late winter are my sources of inspiration. I work intuitively exploring luminosity, a sense of depth and symbolism as I build up layers of drawing, paint and collage to create a story on the canvas.
